Mary Ann Fairbrother (married name Martyr) was born on 16 September 1831 in Greenwich, Kent, England, the daughter of Eliza (Trainbrottren) Fairbrother and William Fairbrother.^{[citation needed]}

She married James Martyr on 16 April 1851 in Lewisham, Kent.^{[citation needed]} Their children were:^{[citation needed]}
