Henry was a son of Jonathan Fairfax and Sarah Wright. Henry was one of the leading shipping merchants in Dumfries, Virginia. He married Sarah Triplett Carter, in Prince William County, Virginia on 16 January 1803. Sarah passed away in May 1818. He married Sophia Scott on 3 December 1818. No children are known of from this union. He married Elizabeth Lindsay in 1824.
At his residence, Leesylvania, Prince William County, Va., on the 6th inst., Capt. HENRY FAIRFAX, Sr., in the 74th year of his age.[4]
