BROKEN BOW -- Lloyd Everett Fales, 75, of Broken Bow, formerly of Arnold died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Arnold. The Rev. Doug Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Arnold Cemetery with military rites. Arnold Funeral Home of Arnold and Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow are in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post in Arnold. Mr. Fales was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Loup City to Ellis W. "E.W." and Hannah E. (Wright) Fales. He attended Knobby Ridge School and graduated from Loup City High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1945 to December 1946. He married Barbara Kruser on Nov. 26, 1947, in Kearney. The couple moved from the ranch in 1954 and lived in Cherry County for one year. In 1955, he began working as an agent for Standard Oil in Arcadia. In 1959, they moved to Arnold where he was in the petroleum business until his retirement until 1986. After his retirement, the couple traveled and spent their winters in Kingman, Ariz., with their nieces and nephews and brother-in-law. His wife died July 9, 1996. He moved to Independence Hall in Broken Bow in 1998. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Arnold and was an active member of the Arnold American Legion. He served on the Arnold Village Board. He enjoyed riding in his vehicle, telling stories and spending time with family. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Connie J. and Danny Spencer of Hastings; a son, Terrell E. Falls of Broken Bow; two grandchildren; a great grandchild; and two brothers, Warren Fales of Melbourne, Ark., and Wayne Fales of Burwell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tressie Gatliff and 14 half brothers and sisters. Grand Island Independent, The (NE) - Saturday, April 6, 2002
