Biography

Elizabeth Farington, was a younger daughter of William Farington of Worden, Lancashire (d. 1657/9), and Margaret Worrell.[1] She was born after 1613.[2] Burke, J. (1838), calls her "Alice, dau. of William Farington of Shawe Hall, Lancashire."[3] But Elizabeth had a sister named Alice, listed in family pedigree signed by William Farington.[4]

Marriage

Elizabeth married twice.

Banaster

Her first husband was Henry Banaster of the Bank in Lancashire (b. c. 1616 - d. abt. 1640.[5][6] He was the son of:

  • Henry Banaster of the Bank (d. 1617),[6]
  • and Ellen Standish.

m. Dorothy, dau. of Roger Nowell of Rede, Lancashire.[5]
  • Christopher

Standish

She remarried to Alexander Standish of Duxbury,[1] (dsp).[3] Burke (1838), asserts that he was the son of:

  • Thomas Standish, Esq. of Duxbury, Lancashire,[3] (b. c. 1594 - d. Oct 1642),[8]
  • and his first wife, Anne (d. 1622),[8] dau. of Sir Thomas Wingfield of Letheringham, Suffolk.[3][8]

Alexander inherited the Duxbury estates and served, "as a roundhead colonel and deputy lieutenant of Lancashire."[8]
