Biography
Clara was the daughter of Francis Guy's daughter Elizabeth Ada who ran away with the Mormons from Sydney to St. Bernadino California in 1856. Elizabeth stayed there even after her brother Francis (Frank) jnr was sent to bring her home. Young Frank came home with a new wife, bub and mother in law in 1861 when the Civil War broke out. Elizabeth and the family moved from the desert to Beaver in Utah and remained there all of her life. I have been writing to a cousin there who sent me the family tree and some photos, and I then found the paper clipping that Elizabeth Guy put in the paper to say that she was leaving the colony of NSW for ever and the name of the ship. Pretty interesting and I wonder what made this head strong young woman leave her family never to return but also interesting to see in the family tree on our side that the name Farnsworth is used a few times as a second name. Farnsworth was Elizabeth's married name. Have shared Mary Sophia's photo around to a few of the family, need to find more if we can. Cheers Jenny Butt
