Biography

Ellen was born in 1869. She was the daughter of Alexander Farquhar and Jane Dougal. She passed away in 1945.

RAF re his Aunty Nell & Uncle Fred:- .......Ellen (Nell) who married Fred Sharman from Huon, who one time was a champion axeman, who followed up timber work mainly through life, he was an expert busman, therefore his services were sought for by timber millers. They had a family of three Laura, Mrs C Lange of Sydney and Fred somewhere in New Zealand and a baby who died very young.

SHARMAN - FARQUHAR. On the 28th January, at the residence of the bride's mother, by the Rev. J. G. Mather, Fredrick Henry, eldest son of Edward Sharman, Dunorlan, to Helen, eldest daughter of the late Alexander Farquhar, Bannockburn, Scottsdale.

Funeral Notice.
SHARMAN - The funeral of the late Helen Sharman is appointed to leave her late residence, George-street Scottsdale, after a short service commencing at 2.30 p.m. this day (March 29), for the Ellesmere Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend. E. L. FRENCH, Funeral Director.

Obituary.
Mrs. Helen Sharman
After gradually failing during the past 12 months, the death occurred at Scottsdale on Tuesday morning of Mrs. Helen Sharman, widow of the late Frederick Sharman, at the age of 76 years. Deceased was born at Jetsonville, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs Alex Farquhar, of "Bannockburn." She was married at Jetsonville to Mr. Fred Sharman, and leaves a son and daughter: Laura (Mrs. Lange, Sydney) and Fred (New Zealand). Her husband died about 14 years ago. The late Mrs Sharman was of a quiet and pleasant nature and having resided in the district all her life, made many friends. She was an earnest and staunch supporter of the Presbyterian Church and for many years took and active interest in church work. The burial took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Ellesmere cemetery. Mr. Alison-Norris, Presbyterian minister, officiated at the graveside. The chief mourners were three brothers - Messrs Thomas, Jack and Albert Farquhar; and a brother-in -law, Mr. William Watts, Launceston. There were many floral tributes.
