Biography

Jan was born in 1841. He passed away in 1897.

From Pook's book:

Clerk to Resident Magistrate of Beaufort West. Served in Magistrates office, Hope Town, 1866. Calvinia. R.M. Ladysmith 1876. Interpreter for H.E. Sir Garnet Wolseley in Transvaal in 1874. Resident Magistrate in Aberdeen, Victoria West, Calvinia, Malmesbury, Graaff-Reinet and Cape Town (1894).
