Biography

Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" (Ferguson) was born 1830 in Cabell County, Virginia. Her parents were Joel Martin Ferguson and Elizabeth (Osburn). She was last identified on a census in 1870.[1] Her husband Miles Salmons was listed on the 1880 Martin County, Kentucky census without her. [2] Since Margaret was listed on the 1870 census, but not on the 1880 census, it suggests she may have died between 1870 and 1880 or about 1875.

Research:

UNABLE TO LOCATE MARRIAGE RECORD

According to the 1850 census, Miles Salmons and his wife Margaret (Ferguson) had one child who was named Frederick who was one year old which suggests he was born about 1849. Since Miles was not living in his own household in 1840, he likely got married shortly after the 1840 census and before the birth of his first child in 1849. Therefore, he got married about 1845. The death certificate for Fred Salmons shows he died April 8, 1930 in Bath Co., Virginia. He was 82 years old and was born Nov. 1847 in Wayne Co., WV. His parents were listed as Miles Salmons and Peggy Fergusson. His wife was Mary E. Mills.
