Daniel Dewar Fergusson was born August 10, or August 27, 1862, in Chorlton upon Medlock, Lancashire, England. (There’s a discrepancy-baptismal record says Aug 10). His parents, Duncan Christie and Catherine Cameron Dewar Fergusson lived at 5 Pigot St, Chorlton, England at the time. Daniel was baptized Nov. 2, 1862 at St Peter’s Square Presbyterian Church in Chorlton, Lancashire, England, by minister Alex Munro. In the 1871 England census, Manchester, Father Duncan is 40, wife Catherine is 38, children: Frederick Duncan 14, Daniel Dewar 8, Mary Peel 7, Ada Evelyn 5, Clara Marion 3, and Duncan’s brother John 36, a bookkeeper is living/?visiting there too. In the 1881 Census of England, Daniel is 19, working as a barman at at Easton Hotel in Limehouse Parish at 2 East India Dock Road, Stepney District of London. He emigrated to Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia after this census. There he married Lydia Harper in 1891. Daughters Lydia Joy born 1892+ Cassie Dewar Born 1896 both in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia. A 3rd daughter Alva Perth was born 1898 in Perth Australia. The house in Australia where they raised their family, they named Kenmore after the town where Daniel's father, Duncan Christie Fergusson, lived in Scotland. Lydia lived to almost 105! as per great-grandson Robert Jones (Australia) informed this researcher. Kenmore house was passed on to their daughter Lydia Joy Fergusson and her husband Wm Claud Head who then gave it to their daughter Naomi Joy Head and her husband Howell Mack Jones. Their son Robert Jones, who sent me their information, grew up in that same house in Australia. Daniel Dewar Fergusson died June 13, 1929 at Camberwell, Boroonara City, Victoria, Australia.
