Biography

Ebenezer Finley lived in Appalachia. See Appalachia Project.

This Ebenezer Finley was born in 1802, and was the son of David Finley and Elizabeth Wilson. He moved from Montgomery Co KY to Callaway Co MO between 1830 and 1840, where he still lived in 1850. Shortly after the death of his first wife, Narcissa, in 1848, he remarried to the widowed Mariah/Moon Ferguson Moore, who died in 1852. In 1860 he was living in Bates County MO, on the Kansas border and midway between Kansas City and the Arkansas border, and by 1870 had moved to the southwest corner of Missouri between the Oklahoma and Arkansas borders. Most of these moves are confirmed in Dr Carmen Finley's history of Sonoma County California Finleys. Ebenezer's son Harrison moved from Missouri to California between 1850 and 1860. Ebenezer married Elizabeth, a 3rd wife showing in 1860-1880 US Census records in southwest Missouri counties, and was buried in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, near where some of his children lived.
