Violet Bertha Finley was born on 17 January 1912 in Grand Ridge, La Salle County, Illinois, USA. She is the daughter of Harry Finley and Nell Hampson.
In the 1920 census Vister (age 7) was the daughter of Harry L Finley in Verona Township, Faribault, Minnesota, United States.[1] The household included:

Violet Wells, 91, St. Joseph, Mich., formerly of Luverne, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Caretel Inns of Royalton.
A private family service was at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, Mich. Her husband, Vincent J. Wells, who preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1994, was disinterred at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Mich. Burial of both Mr. and Mrs. Wells took place at Danebod Cemetery in Tyler, Lincoln County, Minnesota.
Violet Finley was born to Harry and Nellie (Hampson) Finley on Jan. 17, 1912, in Grand Ridge, Ill. She was an elementary school teacher, having taught first grade in Granite Falls.
She married Vincent Wells on June 5, 1941, in Mankato. They owned and/or operated businesses in Balaton (D&W) and Luverne (Nelson Bros.), as well as Iron Mountain (Ben Franklin), Mich., for more than 40 years. They were actively involved in community and civic organizations including American Legion and VFW posts.
Mrs. Wells loved music, reading, crossword puzzles, watching sports, and her bridge club.
Survivors include three sons, Michael (Gloria) Wells, Sherwood, Ore., Brian (Kathy) Wells, San Antonio, Texas, and Stan (Alejandra) Wells, Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Jackie (Harlan) Yearous, St. Joseph; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth (Robert) Thomsen, Walla Walla, Wash.
Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vincent, and one brother, Willard Finley.
