Heman Fish was born about 26 March 1766 based on his age at death,[1] the son of Reuben and Mary (Meiggs) Fish.
He married Mary Parker by 1800, before the birth of their first child. She was named as the wife of Heman Fish in her father's will. Both quitclaimed property, 1809, to her brothers Seth & Joseph.[2]
He was named in his father Reuben Fish's will dated 14 September 1807 and proved 12 December 1809. Heman was named as executor and he was bequeathed "the land bought of Deaon Lot Nye that joins with his homestead and meadow, meadow at Spring Creek, half of a wood lot by Long Pond purchased from Lemuel & Thomas Hamblen.[3]
An death notice appeared in the Yarmouth Register newspaper edition dated 17 October 1844, which stated, "On Friday night last, Mr. Heman FISH, 78."
His gravestone still stands in the Goodspeed Cemetery in Barnstable, where the inscription reads,[4]
Erected to the memory of Mr. Heman Fish, who died Oct. 11, A.D. 1844 aged 78.
Erected to the memory of Mrs. Mary widow of Mr. Heman Fish, who died May 8, 1855 aged 78.
