Biography

Walker Onias Fisher was born in Thorn Township, Ohio on September 20, 1873 to William and Sarah Boyer Fisher. He was the middle of seven known children born to the couple.

Walker was raised in Thornville (Thorn Township), Ohio. On March 7, 1899 he married Bertha (Hupp) Fisher in Linnville, Ohio. The couple initially settled in Franklin Township, Ohio where Walker worked as a farmer.

In 1902, Walker, his wife, and eldest daughter moved to Rolette County, North Dakota to homestead in Wolf Creek, North Dakota. In 1912, Walker moved his growing family to Thorne, North Dakota when he accepted a position as a grain buyer for the Monarch Elevator Company.

In 1920, Walker moved his family (three total children) to Rolette, North Dakota where he accepted a position as manager of the Cargill Elevator.

Walker was a member of the Rolette Masonic Order and the Rolette Chapter of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and Yeoman Lodge. He also served as Justice of the Peace in Rolette, North Dakota.

Walker passed away in Rolette, North Dakota on February 7, 1938. He was 64 years old. He is buried in Rolette Cemetery in Rolette, North Dakota.
