Biography

Elizabeth Fisher was born about 1850 in Cockermouth, Cumberland, England. Her parents were John and Margaret Fisher.^[1]

In 1851, Elizabeth (1) was living in Cockermouth, Cumberland, with her parents John and Margaret Fisher, and siblings William (10), George (8) and John (3).^[1]

In 1871, Elizabeth worked as an "infant School Teacher" in Parton, Cumberland.

Elizabeth married in 1876 to Thomas Hodgson.

The family emigrated to Australia. They arrived in Tasmania from London, England on 16 Dec 1886 on the ship Ionia. The family included Thomas Hodgson (30), Elisabeth (30), Joseph (8), Fisher (6), Elizabeth (3) and Mary (1). They were from Cumberland, England, Thomas was identified as an engineer.^[2]

Elizabeth died on the 11 January 1932 at 14 Balfour Place (Tasmania, Australia). ^[3] Her funeral was held three days later, leaving her residence for Carr Villa Cemetery. ^[4] Her grave is in Area MON, Section C, Plot 466 ^[5] Her husband had been buried in this plot on the 16 September 1919. ^[6]
