Biography

Lois was born in Fairbury, Illinois in 1925. She was the daughter of Marshall Fitzgerald and Beulah Morris. She married Thomas J. Simpson on January 18, 1946 in Fairbury. They had one child. Lois passed away in 2014. She is buried in Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury, Illinois. Her husband's name is also on the gravestone.

Obituary

Lois Mae Simpson, 89 of Fairbury, died at 11:37 am, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at OSF St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Bloomington.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, September 29, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor’s Wilma “Gifty” Smith and Paulette Cott officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be one hour prior to her services also at the memorial home in Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to the Daughters of the American Revolution or American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Simpson was born June 17, 1925 in Fairbury, the daughter of Marshall and Beulah (Morris) Fitzgerald. She married Thomas J. Simpson on January 18, 1946 in Fairbury. Her husband survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include three grandchildren, Whitney (Raymond) Beyer of Minot, ND; Robert (Valari) Berger of Minot, ND; and Charles (Mandi) Berger of Drake, ND; eleven great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one daughter, Jo Lynne Berger in 2010.

Lois was a 1943 graduate of Fairbury Twp. High School. She attended Illinois State Normal University and was a graduate of Brown Business College, Bloomington. She was a bookkeeper and income tax preparer and was employed by FBFM for 20 years.

Lois was a member of the Cropsey United Methodist Church, Cropsey; the Governor Thomas Ford Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Methodist Women.
