Biography
John Flagg was born about 1555, Yaxham, Norfolk, England, he died 16 February 1617, Yaxham, Norfolk, England. He was the son of Richard Flagg, whose will was written 1587. He was married to Elizabeth "Unknown". The will of John Flagg of Whinburghe was dated 5 September 1613, proved 16 February 1617/18. He mentions three children in his will: Allen, Bartholomew, and Rebecca. John's wife died before him. John mentions his wife's nephew Edward Bennington.[1]

In the book: Genealogical Notes on the Founding of New England: My Ancestors Part in That Undertaking, by Ernest Flagg (1973) 'Ernest Flagg cautiously adds that beyond Thomas Flagg's grandfather, he has certain doubts as to the lineage.' Starting here with John Flagg (1555-1617) caution needs to be taken with this line. John's father, Richard Flagg whose will was written in 1587, also seems sound. [1]
