OBITUARY
THE CHARITON HERALD Chariton, Iowa Wednesday, May 27, 1891
MRS. LUCY McKINLEY
Mrs. Lucy McKinley, wife of A. D. McKinley, who has for months been wasting away from that dread disease, consumption, was called home to rest on Wednesday, May 13th, 1891 at 5 o'clock.
An expression of deep regret went up from a host of friends to whom she had been most dear. Yet, with this regret came the feeling of thankfulness that her sufferings had ended and that she had passed to that better land, where there is no more sickness, no more suffering and no more death.
During all her sickness, no word of complaint, no murmer of discontent passed her lips. She was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother and a dear friend to all.
Happy even in their tears beside the new made grave are those who can lay such a wife, mother and friend down to her last repose. She leaves a husband, three sons and three daughters to mourn her loss besides a host of sorrowing and sympathizing friends.
