David was born in 1883. He is the son of Jacob Ford and Dinah McIlroy.

On 8 May 1885 Jacob Ford, grocer aged 25, wife Dinah Ford, aged 23 and David Ford, aged 1 year 4 months, emigrated on board SS State of Indiana from Glasgow, Scotland and arrived in New York, New York, USA on 21 May 1885. [1] [2]

On 7 June 1900 Naturalized Scottish born Jacob Ford (39 - Nov 1860) Conductor (St Car), wife Dinah Ford (37 - Apr 1863) 5 children born / 3 living, married 18 years (1882) with children Scottish born David Ford (16 - Sep 1883) Errand Boy, Illinois born Minna Ford (11 - Apr 1889) and George W Ford (9 - Feb 1891) lived at 6641 Cottage Grove Avenue, Chicago Ward 34, Cook, Illinois. [3]

In 1908-1910 Jacob Ford and David Ford, both clerks, were registered to vote and lived at 1234 S Hill St, Los Angeles, California. [4]

On 18 April 1910 Naturalized Jacob Ford (50) Dept Assessor (County Court House), Irish born wife Dinah Ford (47) 5 children born / 3 living, married 28 years (1882) with children David Ford (26) Salesman (Retail Grocery), Minnie J Ford (21) Book keeper (Wholesale Sash & Saw) and George W Ford (19) Messenger (Telephone Office) lived in S Hill St, Los Angeles Assembly District 73, Los Angeles, California, USA. David Ford, clerk aged 28, married Grace H Wood, aged 28, both living in Spokane, on 14 June 1912 at Spokane, Washington, USA. [6] [7]

On 9 September 1918 David Ford, aged 33, born 16 September 1884, lived at 802 E 32, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, USA. Described as 5' 10 3/4" 140lbs, dark hair with blue eyes. He was trainer and owner of racehorses, his wife Grace lived at the same address. [8]

David and Grace divorced, in 1920 Grace H Wood (29) was living in 6th Ave, Los Angeles, California with her parents Luther and Anna and was listed as single. She re-married in the 1920s to Mexican attorney Jesus Barcenas. In the 1930 US Census she was living with her parents in 6th Ave and is listed as married with her new surname Barcenas.

On 4 April 1930 Irish born widow Dianah Ford (63) Manager (Apartment Hse) and married son David Ford (45) Assistant (Apartment Hse) lived at the Baltic Apartments 25-84, Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, USA. [10]

On 25 April 1942 David Ford, aged 57 and born 16 September 1884 at Glasgow Scotland, lived at 508 Gainsborough Ave, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, USA. Described as 5' 11" 160lbs, blue eyes, brown hair and light complexion. He was self employed and next of kin was his sister Minnie Ford Dixon. [11]
