Biography

Catherine Forney was the daughter of Joseph and Phillippina (Coughannour) Forney. She married George Michael Lentz about 1781 when she was quite young. Their first child was born in 1782. They came to the newly settled area, which is now Jackson Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania to raise their family. She and her husband founded the Lentz family in this part of the county, and many descendants still live in the area.

It had been presumed she was buried next to her husband, although a stone is no longer available to mark her grave. (Many of the stones that marked the Lentz family graves have disappeared.) However, an early transcription of the gravestones in Fetterhoffs Cemetery, which was completed about 1881 was found. It is published 1881-1883 in William H. Egle's Notes and Queries series.
