Sir John Fortescue was baptized at Mursley in Saldon, Buckinghamshire in 1592. He was the son and heir of Sir Francis Fortescue KB and Grace (Manners), daughter of Hon. Sir John Manners of Hadden, Co. Derby. [1]
He matriculated from Oxford (Merton College) on 11 Jul 1606 at age 12; admitted to the Inner Temple in 1612 and succeeded his father in Jan 1623/24. [1]
He was created a Baronet in 17 Feb 1635/36. [1]
He married Frances (Stanley), daughter of Sir Edward Stanley K.B. of Ensham, Oxfordshire. [1]
He was improsoned in Islip, Oxfordshire in May 1644. "He was in arms on the King's side and taken prisoner near Islip, Oxon. May 1644."[1]
He died in Sep 1656 and was buried in Mursley, Buckinghamshire. [1]
