Immigration: Charles was 13 when he arrived in New York from Liverpool in 1850 with his mother and siblings aboard the Issac Webb.

In 1860 Charles lived with his mother and siblings in the Lower Eastside of Manhattan. He was a salesman. Presumably Charles married Mary Barnes between 1860 and 1863, when their first son was born.
In 1870 Charles and young family lived in Newtown, Queens. Charles was a cart driver.
In 1880 Charles was a trackman for the railroad. He lived with his family on Borden Avenue in Long Island City, Queens.
In 1900 Charles was a flagman. He had been unemployed for six months the previous year. Of Mary and Charles' eleven children, four were still alive in 1900; Patrick, Peter, James and, John.
Charles died on November 11, 1907 in Long Island City, New York at the age of 70.
Mary and sons, James and Peter, were the beneficiaries of Charles' estate. Charles was found to possess $15.
