Biography
Elizabeth (Fradd) Davey was born in Cornwall, England.
The picturesque town of Padstow, a fishing port on Cornwall's north coast, was the birthplace and home of Elizabeth Ann Fradd. Born to William Fradd, a labourer, and his wife Jane Rawling, Elizabeth was baptised on 3rd January 1837 at Padstow.[1]
Elizabeth's family lived in Hill Street, and her father William supported the family as a sawyer, likely in Padstow's ship building industry.[2][3]
On 31st May 1857 Elizabeth married William Davey, a ship wright, in Padstow. It is interesting to note that the 1851 census enumerated Elizabeth as a 13 year old scholar, but she signed the marriage register with her mark.[4]
