Biography

John was christened on 9 June 1817, at St Gumonda. In 1851, John, who is an Agricultural labourer, and Charlotte are living in Padstow, St Columb, Cornwall, England, with their daughter Charlotte age 6. In 1861, John is still an Agricultural Labourer, and is living at St Columb with Charlotte, and their children, Josepha age 17, Charlotte age 15, Bessy age 7, John age 5, Gilbert age 3 and Anne age 9 months. In 1871, John, a Farm Labourer, is still living at St Peters Port, with Charlotte, and their children, John age 15, Gilbert age 13 and Anne/Amy age 10. In 1881, John is a Gardener, living at Bouet Anneville Farm in ST Peter Port, with Charlotte and their children, John age 26, Amy age 20, Gilbert age 23 and a boarder - Richard Metiall (Metherell) age 54, who is a ropemaker. In 1891, John is a Farmer, and living at "Roberts House" with Charlotte, their son Gilbert age 33, and two boarders. John passes away in May 1891.
