Biography

William Frazier was born in Kent, England.

William Frazier was born about 1803. He was the son of William Frazier and Hannah unknown. William was baptised on 19th August 1803 at St Margaret's in Rochester, Kent. ^[1]

On 3rd October 1826, William married widow, Letitia Ackhurst, formerly Collard. The marriage took place at Letitia's parish of All Saints, Frindsbury, Kent. ^[2] Frindsbury is about five minutes from Rochester by modern car.

In 1841, William was seen with his wife and three children residing in John Street, in Rochester, Kent. ^[3]

In 1851, William and Letitia were still living in the same residence and only two of the children remained in the household. William was employed as a tide waiter. A tide waiter was a customs officer who could board and search a ship and watch the unloading of goods and collect customs.^[4]

In 1861, William was noted as being a watchman. He was 58-years-old. The transcript appears to have been split up. ^[5]

William passed away in 1871. He was buried on 9th February that year. His last residence was noted as Chatham, Kent. ^[6] His death was registered in Medway and his last name was spelled Frazer upon death registration. ^[7]
