Biography

Anna Freeman was born about 1779 in Bedford County, Virginia. She was the daughter of James Freeman and Sarah Unknown.

Anna married Daniel Clyborn in 1795, also in Bedford Co. They lived in neighboring Franklin County until 1804, when they moved to Smith County, Tennessee.

Smith County Census records are difficult to interpret. In 1820, Daniel is recorded, aged >45, but no female of similar age was recorded. In 1830, both Daniel and wife are present, aged 60-69. Then in 1840, no individuals of the appropriate age are recorded under Daniel's name. The interpretation currently employed is that Anna died before 1840 and Daniel was simply not shown in that Census. He was clearly still living in 1850 and 1860.

She passed away before 1840.
