Thomas was born in 1858. He was the son of Thomas Freestone and Martha Unknown. and came to NZ with them age 15.
A man named Thomas freestone, in the employ of the Auckland Sawmill Timber Company, by some misadventure had three of his fingers taken off by the circular-saw on July 14. The wounded man was promptly removed to the hospital in a conveyance. Dr. Philson at once attended to his injuries, and he is doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances [1]
He passed away in 1928.
MR. THOMAS FREESTONE. News has been received from Sydney of the death of Mr. Thomas Freestone, at the age of 70 years. Deceased arrived in Auckland with his parents in 1874 by the ship Dorette. He started work with the old Auckland Timber Company. In 1882 he accompanied the manager, Mr. George Holdship, to Sydney, where a branch was opened, Mr. Freestone being "saw doctor" for many years. After a lengthy residence in Sydney he returned to Auckland on a visit in 1926. He was a widower and had a grown-up family. A brother is Mr. Jack Freestone, of Panama Street, Arch Hill, while another brother, Walter, lives in the country. Mrs. Butley, of Arch Hill, is a sister.[2]
