Biography

Andreas Jacob Freitag was born on 19 Sep 1807 and baptised on 4 Oct 1807 in Alvensleben Markt (present day Hohe Börde, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany). He was the second of five sons of Heinrich Freitag and Auguste Biermann.^[1]

Andreas married Catharine Dorothee Elisabeth Grothe on June 8, 1834 in Zichtau (present day Gardelegen), when he was 27 years old. The marriage record noted that Andreas was a gardener in Zichtau.^[2]

   Before the undersigned registrar appeared today the property owner Heinrich Koeppe of Schwiesau and declared that Friederike Koeppe, nee Freitag, age 59, protestant, residing in Schwiesau, born in Ziechtau and was married to him, daughter of the gardener Andreas Freitag and his wife, first name unknown, nee Grote, the first mentioned deceased in Ziechtau and last mentioned deceased in Schwiesau;
   Has died in her apartment on 4 December 1897 at 4 in the afternoon. Read approved and signed by Heinrich Köppe.
