Biography

John was born in 1719. He was the son of John French and Elizabeth Harwood. He passed away in 1757.

Lieut. John French resided in Dunstable, Massachusetts where he had a farm.

John French did not leave a will and his estate entered probate 5 December 1757 with his widow Mary as administratrix with surety given by Jonathan Butterfield of Dunstable and Nathaniel Davidson of Billerica. Real estate of 70 acres in Dunstable was valued at £180 and personal estate at £46.19.9. On 6 May 1760, the dower thirds were set to Mary Perham.^[1] On 31 July 1764, Abraham Kendal of Dunstable with Lemuel Perham yeoman of Dunstable, and Temple Kendall provided the guardian bond when Abraham Kendal was named as guardian to William, Mary, John, and Jonas, minor children under the age of fourteen of John French.^[2] The will of John French’s father John French written 19 July 1760 includes a bequest to the heirs of his son John deceased: William French, Mary French, John French, and Jonas French.^[3]
