Biography

Birth

Magdalena was born before or on 3 February 1604, the day of her baptism, in Schwarzenberg near Baiersbronn, Duchy of Württemberg. She was the daughter of Georg Frey, the mayor of Schwarzenberg, and his wife Anna (Unknown) Frey.

Marriages and children

First marriage

Magdalena married Hannß Mast from Klosterreichenbach. The marriage date is unknown as there is no record. In the parish of Klosterreichenbach there is no marriage register from the time before 1636. Magdalena's husband was "Gastmeister" in Klosterreichenbach. This means that he was the head of the inn belonging to the monastery of Klosterreichenbach.

Baptism record of Magdalena Frey. Later someone added the following text after the first name: Ist die Fr. Gastmeisterin zu Reichenbach - she is the wife of the Gastmeister of Reichenbach.

According to the baptismal register of Klosterreichenbach, Hannß and Magdalena were the parents of the twins

• Franciscus (Franz) Mast and
• Anna Magdalena Mast,

who were baptized on October 4, 1636.

Magdalena's husband Hannß Mast was buried on 21 July 1638 in Klosterreichenbach.

Second marriage

Magdalena married Michael Braun from Schernbach near Freudenstadt, Duchy of Württemberg, on 21 August 1639 in Klosterreichenbach. As a result of the marriage, Michael Braun became the new "Gastmeister" of Klosterreichenbach.
Their children were:

1. Johannes Michael, bapt. 21 June 1640 in Klosterreichenbach, married Anna Catharina Lang 26 July 1664 in Klosterreichenbach.
2. Andreas, bapt. 10 November 1641 in Klosterreichenbach.
3. Anna Maria, bapt. 5 September 1646 and died 25 July 1647 in Klosterreichenbach.
4. Johannes Jacobus, bapt. 30 July 1648 and died 13 September 1654 in Klosterreichenbach.

Magdalena's husband Michael Braun was buried on 17 July 1663 in Klosterreichenbach.

Third marriage

Magdalena married Hans Bernhard Klumpp from Klosterreichenbach at a time unknown due to the lack of a marriage record. No children were born during their third marriage. Magdalena was already 59 years old when her second husband died.
Her third husband, Hans Bernhard Klumpp, became the new "Gastmeister" of Klosterreichenbach as a result of the marriage.

Death

Magdalena was buried on 12 September 1683.
