Virginia was born in 1881. She passed away in 1963. Virginia Emmerine "Emma" Frost was born 13 May 1882 to Joseph A. Frost (1849-1890) and Burnetta "Ellen" Ramsey (1857-1938). As mentioned, Emma was a great grandchild of Samuel and Rutha Rector through their daughter Sarah “Sallie” Rector (Samuel – Sarah - Burnetta – Emma). She died of congestive heart failure on 1 Sep 1963 on their farm three months after her husband died. Her son, James, and family lived on the farm. James talked to her on the porch before he went out to work the fields that day. Hours later he found her in her tilt back chair. She was buried on Labor Day 1963.
My grandmother (Ermon "Erma" (Sharp) Rector) told us about her mother-in-law, Emma (Frost) Rector. In later years Emma had cataracts and could not see to read, so she would ask my Grandmother to read from the "testament." Grandma read to Emma for hours from the bible while the "men folk did other things". She said that Emma always wore an apron, and saved everything - she never threw anything out! One of their children remembers that Wayne and Emma were very entertaining. Well into their 80’s, they would "play checkers and fuss, accuse each other of cheating while the other one nodded a bit." --memory by Colette Rector Walls
