Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Wash (Fulbright) Irving is a part of US Black heritage.

George was born a slave about 1831 in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri, USA. His mother Mariah was owned by a Mr. Fulbright of Springfield.

He had 2 brothers Jackson Fulbright and Elias Fulbright who were separated from him during the war when their mistress took them to Texas, where they both raised families of their own.

He married Amanda Ford about 1858.

Widowed in 1883, Uncle Wash died at about age 80 on April 24, 1902 in Burlingame, Osage, Kansas and was buried there in Burlingam City Cemetery amongst the thousand graves he had dug over the course of his lifetime as a grave there.[4]
