Biography

George was born near Donnelsville, Ohio, 21 Dec 1813, son of Jacob and Eva (Boone) Funderburgh. He married 1) Margaret Elizabeth Leffel on 25 May 1843 at Clark County, Ohio. Among their children were Joseph O. (b. 10 Jul 1845), Maria, Catherine, William. He was called to the ministry of the German Baptist Brethren in 1850 in which capacity he served for nearly thirty years. Having lost his first wife, he married 2) Mary Denlinger, daughter of Henry and Lydia (Rush) Denlinger, on 6 Oct 1876. Among their children were Jacob (b. 22 Jan 1879) and Cyrus.

"Brother Funderburg was an able preacher and Bible student. He was called to preach many funerals and officiate at numerous weddings. He was the father of six children, four sons and two daughters. Two of the sons were by his last wife. He died April 24, 1901." (History 1921, p 456)
