Biography

Susan was born in Maine in 1809.

Susan married Ivory Bragdon on 17 June 1830 in Shapleigh, York, Maine, United States.^[1]

They appear together in the 1850 census with Ivory's father William and others. Some or all of those less than 20 years old are likely to be children of Susan and Ivory, but relationships were not recorded in 1850. The previous two families on the the same census page were headed by Stephen Pilsbury and Levi Bragdon. ^[2]

Susan and Ivory are named as parents in the 1858 marriage record of Carrie F. Bragdon to Samuel G. Pillsbury.^[3]

In 1860 the household had no new children. William H, Mary E, and George A. remained at home.^[4] Then in 1870 Mary and George are there and Ella, age 12, has appeared. Perhaps she was a grandchild, but relationships were still not being recorded in the census at this time.^[5]

In 1880 Susan is shown as a widow.^[6]

Susan, daughter of Paul Garvin and wife of Ivory Bragdon, died (age 80) on 12 April 1890 in Newton Centre, Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. She and her parents were born in Shapleigh, Maine, and she would be sent there for interment.^[7] She shares a cemetery monument with her husband, his parents, and one of her children. ^[8]
