Edwin Gaskins was born before 1725, in Northumberland County, Virginia, a son of Thomas Gaskins and Mary Conway. Edwin is named for his maternal grandfather, Edwin Conway. ^[1]

Edwin Gaskins is named in the Will of his paternal grandfather. Gaskins-279 Thomas Gaskins, III died July 20, 1726, in Northumberland County, Virginia. He wrote his Will on April 28, 1726. ^[2]

Edwin wrote his Will on April 9, 1748, with a Codicil on September 16, 1748. It was Probated on November 14, 1748, in Wicomico Parish, Northumberland County, Virginia. ^[3]

Will of Edwin Gaskins

Brother John Gaskins-the choice of my horses or mares with my riding saddle, bridle, and howson(housing?) Godson Archabald Campbell-twenty pounds current money, to be paid when he comes to the age of eighteen. Goddaughter Sarah Hull-eighteen pounds current money, to be paid to her when she comes to the age of eighteen or marriage. Motherin-law Mary Campbell-a suit of mourning. Two sisters Elizabeth Hull, and Sarah Ann McAdam-each a suit of mourning with a mourning ring, in case they survive me. Sister Ann Gaskins-a mourning ring of twenty shillings sterling value. Brother Thomas Gaskins-all the rest of my estate and negroes, and he to be my executor. Witness: Joseph Ball, Samuel Garlington, and Josias Gaskins. CODICIL: Goddaughter Sarah Conway McAdam-the sum of twenty pounds currency when she shall arrive at the age of eighteen years, and to her heirs if she does not live to that age. Witness: James Waugh,William Haydon, and Samuel Garlington.
