Biography

James was born about 1854 per his marriage record. His wife Sabina was using the name Baker (same as her mother's maiden name) when she died so may have remarried and so he appears to have died while his wife was still young.^[1]

On July 8th 1891, in Halifax NS, James A. Gibbons, 37 year old widower from Glasgow, Scotland; employed as a plasterer; son of William, a sea captain and Catherine; married Sabina Mitchell, 20 year old spinster from Jeddore NS; daughter of Alex S., a trader, and Paulina.^[2]

His name is given as James Albert Gibbons in his son Reid Lynwood Webber Gibbons birth records. He was a bricklayer at the time of his son's birth. This is a late registration of birth dated August 8th 1927, James Gibbons is deceased at this time.^[3]
