"He and his brother John were probably the soldiers named in Revolutionary War rosters from Fauquier County.
The 1773-74 will of his grandfather Thomas Harrison 2nd in Fauquier Co., named grandson Thomas Gibson among his heirs; Thomas was also an heir named in the 1788 will of his father. [both wills abstracted in John K. Gott, Abstracts of Fauquier County, Virginia Wills Inventories and Accounts 1759-1800, 1976, Harrison’s on pp. 55-58 and Gibson’s on p. 204]
A brief biography by Alice E. Trabue states that Thomas’ father gave him “all of the estate except slaves, and he had as promptly as possible by his dashing and extravagant ways spent it all….” [Trabue, Virginia Historical Magazine] It is said that there were records for one Thomas Gibson in Fauquier as late as 1794, and in that year one Thomas Gibson first appeared on the Mason Co., Kentucky tax lists.
Ms. Trabue identified one son, William Taylor who married 1) his first Cousin Susan Taylor and 2) Susan Gibson." (Bio by Mark Hale)
