Biography

Mary Gibson has Irish ancestors.

The daughter of James Gibson and Mary (Anderson) Gibson, Mary was born in Sparta in 1868.^[1][2][3]

Mary never married. After the death of her father in 1905, she remained on the farm with her mother, working from home as a dressmaker.^[4][5] After the death of her mother in 1919, Mary moved into Dansville, living with her sister Jenny Holden, whose husband had also passed away in 1919, and Jenny's five children Jenny worked at a shoe factory and Mary also took a job there, sewing shoes.^[6] By 1930, she had retired from the shoe factory and shared quarters with 78-year-old widow Rose Klauck at 18 West Avenue in Danville.^[7]

Mary passed away in Dansville at the age of 66.^[8]
