Richard Smith Giffin was born 4 May 1801, the son of John Giffin and Keziah Smith [1]
Circa 1822 he married Rebecca Hatch (born January 10, 1804, died February 11, 1857), and lived in East Hardwick, Vermont, and they had children, including:
John, born September 22, 1826,[2] who died October 11, 1846
Hannah Miner, born October 25, 1829[3], who died September 29, 1846
Seth (Willy) born August 12, 1832[4], who married Mary Burlett on June 9, 1853 and had 11 children.
Richard Jones Deerborne, born February 17, 1833[5], who married Emma Cameron[6]
Rebecca D, born May 4, 1838[7], who married Howell Flanagan and died in 1900[8]
Thankful Elvira, born Februray 2, 1842[9], who married Jacob Rood[10] and died in 1930[11]
Sidney Edward, born August 11, 1851, who married Mary White[12], and who died in 1914[13]
Richard died May 14, 1874[1] in Kingsbury, Vermont, and is buried in the Greenmount Cemetery in Burlington, Chittenden County Vermont[14]
