Robert Lee Gilbert is the son of John Gilbert (1870-) and Julia (Ayers) Young (1880-1954) He was born in 1906.
Robert's father John Alexander Gilbert, passed away from pneumonia on November 23rd, 1913 and the 4 children Herschel Ownesby Gilbert , Robert and Arthur, and Leona were sent to the Odd Fellows Home in February 1914. Leona was only 17 months old at the time they went to the Home.
Herschel left the Home on June 30th, 1928 at the age of 18. The two older brothers left the Home: Robert in 1924 and Arthur in 1926. Leona was discharged from the home the same time that Herschel was, at the age of 15.
After leaving the Home they all went to Jellico, Tennessee as their mother, Julia Ayers Gilbert, had remarried Lee Young.

Dayton, Ohio - Ada E. Christensen Gilbert, 82, Goshen native, died July 5, 1988, at Cedar City, Utah, of causes incident to age. She was born Sept. 21, 1905, at Goshen, the daughter of Hiram R. and Amanda Peterson Christensen. She attended Goshen school and graduated from Firth High School. She attended Ricks College and Idaho State University, and graduated from the University of Dayton, Ohio. On July 1, 1937, she married Robert Lee Gilbert at Covington, Ky. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She taught school at Osgood, Lincoln and Goshen. After her marriage, she taught at Dayton, Ohio, where she was chosen Teacher of the Year. She was an active member of the LDS Church. Survivors include a daughter, Myrna Gilbert Bowles of Cedar City, Utah; two sons, Robert Gilbert of Dayton, Ohio, and Norman Gilbert of Chicago, Ill; a brother, Leland C Christensen of Goshen; a sister, Melva Harker of Shelley; 10 grand-children and three great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband. Services were held July 11 in Dayton, Ohio, conducted by Bishop Ron Dever. Burial was at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Dayton.
