On 22 Jun 1900 at the time of the 1900 US Census, head of household Ira A. Gilbert (age 25, born Dec 1875 in IA) was employed as a Farmer and living on a farm he owned with a mortgage in Decatur, Iowa with his wife Alice O. Gilbert (age 19, born Jan 1881 in MO); and son Oscar Gilbert (age 6 months, born Nov 1899 in IA). Ira and Alice had been married for one year. Alice had given birth to one child, who was still alive. Both of Ira's parents were born in Iowa; Alice's father was born in Kansas and her mother in Iowa. [3]
