Biography
George is identified by his middle name of Collison. There seems to be a record of migration to Australia in 1839 on a ship's passenger list. An Australian newspaper has an entry in 1849 of debtors. They are confined to Darlingshurst Prison in Sydney, Australia. George Collison Giles is listed as "Mariner of Sydney" and is in debt for 100 pounds. His assets appear to be about 17 pounds. I have no further record yet of whether he married and had a family in Australia. What happened post the debtor's prison, is unknown to me.[1]
