Mae Gillen was born on October 4, 1926 in Macon, Illinois, United States, daughter of John Henry Gillen (1870–1963) and Bessie Ellen Diss (1882–1954). Mae died on March 30, 2010 in Decatur, Macon, aged 83.

Mae was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and and homemaker.

Mae married Ivan Perry, Jr. on 4 Aug 1945 in Trueblood Memorial Church. Rev. D. O. Cross officiated the ceremony. Mae & Ivan had 2 children, a son and daughter (both living).

Funeral services were held Thu, 1 Apr 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran church. Pastors Wray Offerman and Rob Mrosko officiated. Internment is in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care handled the arrangements.Mae died in 2010 and was buried in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, United States.^[6]
