Biography

John was born about 1828. He was the son of Nathaniel Gilliam and Sallie Davis.

On Feb 25, 1862, John enrolled as a private in Company B of the 5th Regiment of the East Tennessee Infantry Volunteers of the United States Army. He was taken ill with diarrhea in June 1862 at Camp Pine Knot, Ky and died in Field Hospital at Cumberland Gap, Tenn., Aug. 20, 1862.

He passed away in 1862.
