Biography

Samuel Bertram GIRLING ^{[1] [2] [3] [4]}, son of Samuel GIRLING and Emma ^[2], was born abt 1891 ^[4].

Samuel married Olive Rhoda MASTON ^[1] on 21 December 1918 ^[1] (registered in 1918 at Rockdale ^[1]). They had at least three children: Nancy (died in infancy), Betty and Pat (died young).

In the 1930s and 1940s Samuel and Olive were living in Homebush, Burwood and Strathfield. ^[5] At some point during the 1950s they had moved to Turramurra. ^[5]

Samuel died, aged 75 years ^[4], on 30 April 1966 ^{[2] [3]} at Turramurra ^[3], NSW (registered in 1966 at St Leonards ^[2]). He was buried on 2 May 1866 ^[4], at Rookwood General Cemetery (Anglican Section 16, Grave 541) ^[4], Rookwood, NSW.

Birth: Year of birth is an estimate based on age at death given on headstone ^[4]

Death: Although the headstone reads "Died 2nd May 1966" ^[4], this was more likely the funeral/burial date since both the death registration and death notice state that he died on 30 April 1966 ^{[2] [3]}.
