DEMISE. — We received a wire this morning to the effect that Mr. Richard Glasson, J.P., of Guyong, died yesterday afternoon. The news will be received with regret by very many persons in the Bathurst district, for the deceased gentleman was widely known and deservedly respected. He was one of the pioneers of the west, and settled here over 50 years ago. A short time ago Mrs. Glasson died, and the old gentleman (he was in his 80th year) felt the bereavement very keenly. Until within the last few days, however, he enjoyed fairly good health, and the end came rather suddenly. The funeral will take place at 3 o'clock to-morrow afternoon.
Research Notes
Richard and Emma were married in July 1838 and arrived in Colony of New South Wales sometime before son Gustavus was born in 1839. No voyage has been found for certain although there were passengers called GLASSON on both ships, James Pattison (arrived 11 Dec 1838) and Andromache (arrived 31 January 1839) both arrived in Port Jackson.
