Disputed parents

It has been suggested that John was the son of Charles Glover of Salem, Massachusetts, and Southold, Long Island, but this cannot be proved with the available evidence.

John Glover (1600-1652) had previously been attached as John's father. As stated in the comments below, he is not the same as John Sr.'s son John Glover Jr. (bef.1629-1696). Accordingly, he has been detached.

This John Glover was not the son of John Glover Esq. (1600-1653). That John did have a son John, but that John was baptized at Prescott, England, in 1629, so he could not be the John born in Salem, Mass., in abt 1638. John Glover lived in Boston & Dorcester after his arrival in Massachusetts in 1635; there is no evidence that he ever lived in Salem.
