Son of William and Margaret Goad. He married Rachel Smith on 5 March 1792 in Franklin Co., VA. Stephen and family went to Tennessee prior to 1810 where he was listed in the Grainger Co., TN census. He died in 1815 and was "buried on the Cumberland Mountains of White County," Tennessee.
