Catherine is probably the daughter of William Goben/Gobin (born 1758 in PA). William died in Clark Co., IN in 1842 and is buried in the Goben Cemetery on the homestead, later referred to as the Albert Shafer Farm in Oregon Twp., near Otisco, Clark Co, IN. William was the son of Hugh Gobin and brother of Charles Gobin, my 4th great grandfather of Sunbury, Northumberland Co., PA. William had 2 marriages and a total of 16 children. To his first wife Rebecca Braudy or Brody of Northumberland Co. he had 9 children including a daugther Catherine (Katy) who was probably born in western PA where William and Rebecca lived during and after the latter part of his military service during the Revolutionary War. They then moved to Kentucky and then to Clark Co., IN where Rebecca died ca 1811 or 12. William's 2nd wife was Unity Durham. Descendants of this line are extensive but since it's not my line, I do not have any data beyond that found in William's will of October 1841 in Monroe Twp., Clark Co. Hugh Gobin was of French Huguenot ancestry, born in Wales ca 1720. There are several variations to the spelling of this surname but the two most commonly used are Gobin and Goben.
