Mary Elizabeth Godbehere was born on February 15, 1895 in Wolf Creek, Rhea, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Addison Allen Godbehere (1861–1936) and Eliza Scarbrough (1860–1927).

Mary (17) married George Wesley McDaniel (24) (born on July 9, 1888 in Milo, Bledsoe; son of John Henry McDaniel and Margaret Elizabeth Dunn (Elizabeth Dunn) McDaniel) on January 12, 1913 in Bledsoe. ^[1]

In the 1900 census Mary (age 7) was the daughter of Allen Godbehere in Spring City, Rhea, Tennessee, United States.^[2] Allen Godbehere 40, wife Eliza S Godbehere 40, daughter Clemie A Godbehere 10, son Thos P Godbehere 8, daughter Mary E Godbehere 7, daughter Lillie J Godbehere 5, daughter Ardie M Godbehere 3.
