Edwin was born 2 October 1831 in Moyne (a hamlet in Knockananna), County Wicklow, Ireland, son of James Godkin 1806-1839 and Sarah Lawrence. [1]
Edwin Lawrence Godkin 1830-1902, an Irishman who became a well-known American journalist and newspaper editor. He is known primarily as the founder of The Nation, but also edited the New York Evening Post from 1883-1899.
